Berelain betritt Rands Gemächer, unbehelligt von den Aiel-Wachen, in der Absicht, den Wiedergeborenen Drachen zu verführen. Nachdem Rand sie mit einer Luftwelle abgewehrt hat, ist sie erschrocken, als die Spiegelwesen Rand angreifen, entschuldigt sich demütig und bietet an, ohne Zwischenfall zu gehen, nachdem sie seine Macht gesehen hat.

The First of Mayene exits Rand's anteroom in a state of raw panic and fear, rejecting High Lord Torean's attempt to seize her arm and offer protection before he retreats into a side corridor upon noticing Perrin watching.

Berelain walks past Mat in a hallway wearing a clinging white silk dress. Mat attempts to engage her with a formal bow and speech, but she ignores him, murmuring that he is 'too much like me' before turning away.

Chapter 14 - Customs of Mayene

Berelain visits Perrin's room to seduce him and deliver a message to Rand, which he rejects. She confronts Faile in the hallway, claiming Perrin as her pet and insulting Faile's manners, which provokes Faile into a knife fight. She is forced to retreat to her room by Rhuarc after failing to dominate Faile.
