Referenced by Gawyn with lingering hatred and by Graendal as the target of psychological warfare after destroying Natrin's Barrow with balefire.

Chapter 6 - Questioning Intentions

Tarn / Tam / al'Thor

Addresses Perrin as son and warns that the men place too much stock in the banner, promising to lead the Two Rivers recruits home once gateways function properly.

Chapter 10 - After the Taint

Rand / al'Thor

Briefly appears in Perrin's vision as he reflects on Grady's revelation, riding through a city with Nynaeve before vanishing.

Chapter 13 - For What Has Been Wrought

Tarn / Tarn al'Thor — aliases: Lord Dragon, Dragon Reborn

Appears on the steps of the Stone, listens as Rand weeps and apologizes for terrible deeds, comforts him by noting he didn't break when he fell, and is introduced to Min Farshaw.

Chapter 15 - Use a Pebble

Rand — aliases: Lord Dragon

Apologizes for the destruction caused by the Dark One's stirring and explains his urgent plan to break the seals at Shayol Ghul. Advises Nynaeve to embrace her genuine nature rather than conforming to Aes Sedai expectations, asks her to sway Egwene to his side, and requests her presence in his circle for the final confrontation.

Chapter 17 - Partings, and a Meeting

Rand / Rand al'Thor

Appears only as a swirling color vision of him shaving in a gilded mirror while Mat thinks of him, prompting Mat to reflect on how Rand must feel about channeling.

Chapter 21 - An Open Gate

Tarn / Tam

Questions whether refugees will want to return home, noting many prefer to face the coming war alongside Perrin rather than hide in their villages.

Chapter 25 - Return to Bandar Eban

Rand / Rand al'Thor — aliases: Lord Dragon, Coramoor

Returns to Bandar Eban and feels crushing guilt over abandoning the starving city, but regains resolve through Min's reassurance. Discovers that Sea Folk ships still carry good grain despite widespread rumors of spoilage, appoints Durnham as military commander and Iralin as city steward, and prepares to distribute food and heal the sick.
