Travels eastward toward the Blight with Bulen, refusing to raise the Golden Crane despite three old acquaintances insisting on following him. The group rides together as he accepts their company into a land he considers destined for death.

Mentioned in passing as someone Rand vows to get help for, though he must prioritize facing Egwene first.
Chapter 20 - A Choice

Fights an entire pack of Darkhounds in the ruined landscape of Malkier during Nynaeve's final trial, sustaining a broken leg before she heals him and they escape together through a doorway.
Chapter 23 - Foxheads
Lan / Lan Mandragoran — aliases: Tai'shar Malkier
Travels eastward with his followers, accepts additional merchants and warriors bringing supplies, swears them to secrecy regarding his identity, and reorganizes the group as a supply caravan bound for Shienar.
Chapter 42 - Stronger than Blood
Lan / Lan Mandragoran / Al'Lan Mandragoran
Rides toward the Silverwall Keeps disguised as a caravan leader, resolving not to lead gathered warriors into the Blight but to let them fight elsewhere. After being recognized by Kaisel Noramaga and learning Nynaeve arranged for allied princes to wait for him, he sighs, raises the Golden Crane, and permits all who wish to follow to join the Last Hunt.
EPILOGUE

Leads the gathered warriors of the Last Hunt on a final, suicidal charge against a massive Trolloc horde at Tarwin's Gap.
