Rides alongside Galad through the mire, voicing concerns about faulty maps and exhausted men. He witnesses Galad's leadership style and later accompanies him during the parley with Asunawa's forces before taking his sword upon his capture.
Chapter 2 - Questions of Leadership

Enters Galad's tent with Trom and Byar, noting that the Children obeyed Galad's orders not to attempt a rescue.
Chapter 4 - The Pattern Groans
Bornhald
Accompanies Galad through camp, assists in inspecting the captives, realizes they are army camp followers rather than merchants, and relays prisoner reports about the nearby army and Aiel skirmish.
Chapter 10 - After the Taint
Dain / Bornhald
Rides to Perrin's camp under a flag of peace to deliver an ultimatum from his commander, refusing parley and demanding immediate battle or the execution of captives.
