Lan lucha junto a Moiraine contra los Trollocs, mostrando una habilidad excepcional. Lan storms into the Accepted women's quarters, furious that Nynaeve lied about going to Tar Valon. He is shocked when she reveals an Amyrlin letter commanding him to escort her to Tanchico, eventually submitting to her authority after a fierce kiss and warning her of the dangers.
Chapter 22 - Out of the Stone

Lan stands between the groups, watching with a stormy expression. He warns Rand about Couladin's ambition. Later, he is found on the outcrop watching the valley before Moiraine arrives. He carries her inside and is barred from following by Melaine.
Chapter 36 - Misdirections

Lan rides his warhorse slightly apart from the main group, keeping a close watch on the Shaido column and the rugged landscape. He remains silent but vigilant as the party interacts with the peddlers.
Chapter 48 - An Offer Refused
Lan
Lan comes to practice swordplay with Rand every evening and joins in practice sessions with Rhuarc to teach Aiel fighting techniques.
Chapter 49 - Cold Rocks Hold
Lan
Lan arrives at the hold with the Wise Ones. His sword draws a disapproving glance from Lian, but he is welcomed after Bair introduces him as Aan'allein. He lounges comfortably during the meal on the floor, contrasting with Mat's discomfort.
Chapter 58 - The Traps of Rhuidean
Lan
Lan stands on the ledge with the clan chiefs, watching Rand's return with his sword at his side.
