Chapter 24 - Rhuidean

Summary

Rand al’Thor and Mat Cauthon traverse the fog into the abandoned city of Rhuidean, discovering it contains a functioning water fountain and the legendary Avendesora tree. Rand departs Mat to enter the heart of the city alone, leaving Mat to wait. Mat locates a redstone ter'angreal identical to the one in Tear, steps through it, and is guided by a pale, sharp-toothed man through a looping corridor of identical chambers. He is brought before eight figures standing on pedestals who offer him answers to his questions but demand a price for their departure, ultimately leaving him in darkness with something around his throat.
