Gaul, the leader of the Stone Dogs, stands guard outside Rand's anteroom and briefly speaks with Egwene and Elayne, informing them that Rand is in a foul mood and has already chased off High Lord Torean.

Gaul accompanies Perrin through the Ways, calmly observing the surroundings. He fights the Trollocs with his spear and buckler, narrowly surviving the engagement with the Myrddraal before fleeing to the Waygate.

Gaul joins Perrin at the fireside, making a fire and sharing a silent meal before sitting on watch during the night. He listens to Perrin’s dream warnings about the Two Rivers and calmly accepts the grim reality of the situation.

Chapter 29 - Homecoming

Gaul accompanies Perrin to the Two Rivers, enters the Winespring Inn with Perrin, and presents a gold saltcellar as a gift to Mistress al'Vere.

Chapter 30 - Beyond the Oak

Gaul declares his intention to accompany Perrin on the rescue mission to repay a blood debt. He travels with the group to the oak and maintains a vigilant stance alongside the Aiel Maidens.

Chapter 40 - Hunter of Trollocs

Gaul scouts ahead and reports the location and number of Trollocs to Perrin. He leads the vanguard into the waterwood, survives the ambush with only a slight limp, and rides with the retreating group.

Gaul stiffly declines to enter the Tinker camp with Perrin and lops away into the grass.

Chapter 44 - The Breaking Storm
