A stocky, dark-eyed farmer who has slipped away from the group, Jur approaches Rand to ask for permission to return home to his croft. Rand grants his request, and Jur is later seen staring at a flame with Taim, having apparently failed the test or been dismissed.

Jur is the husband of Sora Grady, the only wife remaining at the farm, and was among the few from the initial group still present. He is not one of the seven students currently training.
