Chapter 8 - Over the Border

Nynaeve

Nynaeve climbs onto the wagon driver's seat while managing her hat and scarf, later interacting with a Whitecloak captain to maintain their merchant cover story. She argues with Elayne about their behavior, reflects on her anger and channeling limitations, and reluctantly agrees to stop in Mardecin for supplies and rest.

Chapter 9 - A Signal

Nynaeve sets up camp, inspects supplies including a seal of the Dark One, and walks to Mardecin with Elayne. She spots a Yellow Ajah signal, enters the associated shop, and consumes drugged tea, leading to her unconsciousness.

Chapter 10 - Figs and Mice

Nynaeve is drugged alongside Elayne but manages to resist fully losing consciousness. She interrogates Mistress Macura, learns of the Black Ajah and Narenwin Barda, and accepts help from Thom and Juilin to escape, thanking them for their assistance.

Nynaeve meets Birgitte in Tel'aran'rhiod to gather intelligence on the Forsaken and later defends her unschooled use of the dream world against Melaine's accusations, refusing to promise to seek permission before future actions.

Chapter 15 - What Can Be Learned in Dreams

Nynaeve enters Tel'aran'rhiod, disguises herself as an Accepted, and confronts Egwene in a simulated Amyrlin study. She learns of Elaida's rise and receives a harsh lecture on the dangers of the dream world and her own deceit regarding the forkroot tea incident before returning to her bed in Sienda.

Chapter 16 - An Unexpected Offer

Nynaeve wakes with troubling dreams and prepares for the day. She notes three scratches on her neck that are not red thanks to an ointment from Macura, suspecting Elayne knows they are not from brambles. She argues with Elayne over their travel plans. When Galad confronts Elayne, Nynaeve remains wary of the Whitecloaks and later orchestrates their escape by recruiting Thom and Juilin to help them join Valan Luca's menagerie, providing them with gold to secure a wagon.

Chapter 17 - Heading West

Nynaeve helps orchestrate the escape and join the menagerie, relying on Thom’s juggling to secure their place. She interrogates Cerandin about Seanchan customs and the s'redit, demanding truth about the sul’dam and damane system.

Chapter 33 - A Question of Crimson

Nynaeve stands blindfolded while Thom throws knives, sustaining a blow to her eye, and later lies to Elayne that Cerandin caused the injury while hiding the truth about the combat. She debates escape routes with Elayne after learning Galad is nearby and is offered firesticks by Aludra.

Chapter 34 - A Silver Arrow

Nynaeve eats dinner with Elayne and Valan Luca, then uses a ring to enter Tel'aran'rhiod. She meets Birgitte, who shows her the Forsaken, but Moghedien attacks her, binding her in the dream and threatening her with transformation. After Birgitte kills Moghedien with a silver arrow, Nynaeve mourns Birgitte's disappearance.

Chapter 35 - Ripped Away

Nynaeve wakes from a nightmare in Tel'aran'rhiod, weeping in despair over causing Birgitte's injury. She attempts a complex Healing weave that fails, then accepts Elayne's bonding of Birgitte. Overcome with guilt and exhaustion, she leaves the room to walk alone.

Chapter 36 - A New Name

Nynaeve remains vigilant over the sleeping Birgitte, consumed by guilt and grief, until Elayne forces her to rest. She wakes to find Birgitte recovered and eagerly assists in grooming her, dressing her, and preparing food. Chapter 37 - Performances in Samara

Nynaeve dyes her hair red and changes into a dress, then endures a harsh lecture from Birgitte about her overbearing guilt and loss of independence. She watches Elayne's highrope act with panic, and later spots and pursues a mysterious one-eyed man in the crowd.

Chapter 38 - An Old Acquaintance

Nynaeve hunts Uno through the crowd, successfully extracting him from the spectacle to a quieter cart path. She listens to his report on Masema and the Whitecloaks, ignores his warnings about the riots in Samara, and firmly commands him to accompany her as she marches toward the city gates.

Chapter 39 - Encounters in Samara

Nynaeve enters Samara with Uno, encounters Ragan, and confronts Masema, arguing against his decrees regarding clothing and morality before securing his permission to find a riverboat to join Rand. She later reacts with anger and disbelief to Uno and Ragan's explanation of Masema's power and Queen Alliandre's submission, finally spotting Galad following them.

Chapter 40 - The Wheel Weaves

Nynaeve confronts Galad in a Samara alley, securing his promise to find a riverboat for their escape to Caemlyn while maintaining her cover with Valan Luca’s menagerie, before commanding Uno and Ragan and their remaining Shienaran followers to join her service. She later stands still while Birgitte shoots arrows near her to prove trust in Galad's oath and retreats to feign illness to avoid repeating the ordeal.

Chapter 47 - The Price of a Ship

Nynaeve endures a stifling morning with Elayne, worrying about her own safety and Egwene's. She is confronted by Valan Luca, who passionately proposes marriage, prompting Nynaeve to firmly decline and assert her determination to leave. She later argues with Galad regarding his seizure of their ship and his role in the city's riots.

Chapter 48 - Leavetakings

Nynaeve packs her valuables, including the a’dam and the dark wooden box, while suppressing her fear of Moghedien. She argues silently with Elayne over their packing and funds, endures Valan Luca’s extravagant marriage proposal, and leads the group through the rioting streets of Samara. After the fight, she forces the ship captain to take the refugees aboard and shares a moment of understanding with Galad before his departure.

Chapter 49 - To Boannda

Nynaeve pays Captain Neres to take the refugees aboard and forces him to clear his hold by using illusion and threat of the Shienarans. She tends to the wounds of her companions and refugees, heals children, and manages the tense atmosphere among the travelers. Later, she dreamwalks with Elayne to the White Tower, learns of the Shaido’s retreat, and meets Egwene and Amys in Tel’aran’rhiod, where she confronts her own fears and embarrassment regarding Egwene's sudden appearance.

Chapter 50 - To Teach, and Learn

Nynaeve — aliases: Daughter-Heir

Nynaeve endures the harsh interrogation by Sheriam and the other Aes Sedai, losing her valuables and the a'dam to their custody. She secretly negotiates with Siuan Sanche to learn how to use the dreamwalking ring in exchange for protecting Siuan's secrets and studying the effects of stilling. In the common room, she asserts authority over her companions, preventing Uno and the others from leaving, and remains wary of the political undercurrents.

Chapter 54 - To Caemlyn

Nynaeve teaches Siuan in Tel'aran'rhiod before being confronted by Moghedien. She binds Moghedien with an a'dam, forces her to reveal Rahvin's trap, and then travels to the waking world in Caemlyn.

Chapter 55 - The Threads Burn

Nynaeve navigates the dream palace with a reluctant Moghedien bound to her, using an a'dam to force the Forsaken's cooperation. After Rahvin's death, she heals Rand, delivers a cruel message to him regarding Elayne, and drugss Moghedien with forkroot tea before leaving Tel'aran'rhiod.
