Beslan enters the room limping, having just finished a duel where he killed a man named Nevin. He greets Mat with a soft voice and an invitation to socialize, agreeing to hunt for girls and fights in taverns alongside Mat, much to Mat's horror.

Chapter 29 - The Festival of Birds

Beslan arrives with a group of companions to accompany Mat to the festival. He fights in the beggar brawl and later reveals to Mat that his mother Tylin has chosen Mat as her lover, causing Mat to flee the tea house in a daze.

Chapter 37 - A Note from the Palace

Beslan sits on the coach step waiting for Mat, then travels with him and the others. He expresses excitement at the thought of Moghedien and politely wishes Lan and Nynaeve well upon learning of their marriage, noting Lan's bleak eyes. He later prompts Mat to read the Queen's note.
