Melaine orders Rand to strip and be treated. She commands the white-robed servants to leave and explodes in anger when Rand suggests returning to Rhuidean, throwing bread at him. She physically bars Lan from following the Wise Ones with Moiraine.

Melaine states that the fulfillment of the Prophecy of Rhuidean cannot be halted and that they must try to save as many Aiel as possible. She threatens Aviendha with digging holes and filling them in if she does not obey the orders to shadow Rand.

Melaine rides atop Aldieb behind Moiraine, holding the Aes Sedai around the waist while talking. She is noted for her fiery green eyes and her ability to channel.

Chapter 49 - Cold Rocks Hold

Arrives with the group, stares at Moiraine, shakes her hair, and sharply corrects Rand about the Goshien not being Shaido.

Chapter 50 - Traps

Melaine — aliases: Wise One

Melaine argues heatedly with Rand about saving the Aiel people, threatens him to 'lay' their blood for his, and mutters about talking sense into 'that fool girl' as she leaves.

Chapter 57 - A Breaking in the Three-fold Land

Stands with the Wise Ones on the hill, staring at Rand with mistrust regarding his plans.
