Characters

• Perrin (archer, Young Bull) — Perrin camps separately from Faile’s group to maintain watch and prepare for his dream journey. He enters the Wolf Dream, chasing Slayer toward the Tower of Ghenjei and receiving a warning from a strange woman about the dangers of the Aelfinn and Eelfinn. Upon waking, he realizes his home in the Two Rivers is tainted by Slayer and devoid of wolves, confirming the threat he must face.
• Gaul (Stone Dog) — Gaul joins Perrin at the fireside, making a fire and sharing a silent meal before sitting on watch during the night. He listens to Perrin’s dream warnings about the Two Rivers and calmly accepts the grim reality of the situation.
• Slayer (the man in the blue coat) — A tall, dark-haired man in a blue coat is chased by Perrin in the Wolf Dream. He kills a wolf in the dream, which is impossible, and flees into the Tower of Ghenjei. Hopper identifies him as Slayer, an ancient evil walking the dream.
