Chapter 10 - The Stone Stands

Lan — aliases: the Warder

Lan fights alongside Moiraine against Trollocs in a chamber below, displaying his skill in battle. He later appears in the hallway, bloodied and tense, and is halted by Moiraine when he tries to approach Rand. He assists a weakened Rand by holding him up and watches him warily as Rand recovers.

Chapter 22 - Out of the Stone

Lan — aliases: the Warder

Lan rides with Moiraine behind Rand, displaying his characteristic stoicism. He contributes to the discussion by noting that the Aiel have sharp eyes and that there are no cities in the Waste, contradicting Rand's source about a floating city. He mounts and follows the group to the location of the Portal Stone.

Chapter 23 - Beyond the Stone

Lan — aliases: Aan'allein, Warder

Lan helps the exhausted Rand to his feet and holds him upright. He later explains the nature of Couladin and his men to Moiraine and Egwene. He accepts the Wise Ones' command to stand aside with the horses while Moiraine and Egwene meet with them, before being led away by the horse-taker.

Chapter 34 - He Who Comes with the Dawn

Lan — aliases: Warder, Aan'allein

Lan stands between the groups, warning Rand about Couladin’s ambition. He explains why he did not follow Moiraine into Rhuidean. Later, he is held back by Melaine when he tries to follow Moiraine into the tent, and he is seen pacing outside before watching the valley.

Chapter 37 - Imre Stand

Lan

Lan assists Rand in practicing sword forms and explains Aiel tactical formations to him. He remains vigilant during the camp's establishment and the subsequent attack, standing ready to protect Rand.
