Chapter 5 - Questioners
Egwene
Egwene dirige l'interrogatoire de Joiya et Amico, tissant des boucliers et des liens autour des prisonniers. Elle observe les changements physiques chez Amico, met en doute le récit de Joiya concernant Mazrim Taim, et lutte contre les tensions interpersonnelles qui l'opposent à Nynaeve au sujet de l'autorité et de la conduite à tenir.
Chapter 6 - Doorways
Egwene
Egwene soutient la décision d'Elayne concernant Rand, affirmant qu'elle l'aime uniquement comme un frère et encourageant Elayne à exprimer ses sentiments. Elle réagit avec une compréhension horrifiée face à l'ampleur de la guerre que Moiraine propose et suggère des méthodes traditionnelles des Deux-Rivières pour exprimer un intérêt romantique.
Chapter 7 - Playing with Fire
Egwene
Egwene entre dans les appartements de Rand avec Elayne pour lui apprendre à canaliser, testant sa sensibilité au saidar et tentant de le guider vers la Flamme et le Vide. Elle devient frustrée et effrayée lorsque Rand l'abrite involontairement de la Source, puis détruit une partie de sa chambre dans un accès d'émotion, et finit par rejeter ses attentes romantiques en déclarant qu'elle ne l'aime que comme un frère.
Chapter 8 - Hard Heads
Egwene
Egwene intercepte Mat dans le couloir et le retrouve plus tard dans un jardin, où elle lui révèle l'existence d'un ter'angreal capable d'accorder trois vérités, tout en l'avertissant des dangers graves qu'il comporte. Elle lui conseille de demander la permission à Moiraine avant de l'utiliser, mais Mat refuse catégoriquement cette idée.
Chapter 9 - Decisions
Egwene — aliases: Aes Sedai (Aes Sedai)
Egwene passe des heures à interroger les prisonnières de l'Ajah Noire, Joiya et Amico, à se disputer avec Nynaeve au sujet de Moiraine et à apprécier la compagnie spirituelle, bien que culturellement distincte, d'Aviendha.
Chapter 11 - What Lies Hidden
Egwene / Egwene al'Vere — aliases: Aes Sedai (Aes Sedai), Green Ajah (Ajah verte)
Egwene laisse son anneau derrière elle et entre dans Tel'aran'rhiod pour chercher l'Ajah Noire à Tanchico. Elle explore le Palais de la Panarchie, se retrouve accidentellement dans le Désert des Aiel où elle est contrainte de se tenir nue devant une femme Aiel avant de s'en libérer en utilisant le Pouvoir Unique, et finit par rencontrer la Sage-Femme Amys, qui l'avertit d'un mal sombre et lui ordonne de chercher une formation dans la Terre aux Trois Voies.
Chapter 12 - Tanchico or the Tower

Egwene wakes from Tel'aran'rhiod, exhausted and sweaty, and explains her meeting with the Wise One Amys to her friends. She persuades Elayne and Nynaeve to let her go to Cold Rocks Hold for training, reasoning that learning from Amys will help her find the Black Ajah more effectively than searching blindly in Tanchico. Moiraine announces that the prisoners are dead, their tongues nailed to their cell doors, and suggests that the Black Ajah has resources beyond what is known, leaving the specific motive for their deaths to interpretation.
Chapter 16 - Leavetakings

Egwene attend qu'Elayne et Nynaeve aient fini de partager l'or de Moiraine, se préparant à voyager vers la Terre aux Trois Voies. Elle exprime sa stupeur face à la décision de Rand d'envoyer Perrin dans les dangereux Chemins, puis échange des câlins et des avertissements avec ses amies qui partent. Après leurs adieux, Elayne essuie les larmes qui coulent sur ses joues et se résout à trouver un moyen de garder l'intérêt de Rand.
Chapter 21 - Into the Heart

Egwene accompanies Moiraine to the Heart of the Stone, expressing concern and anger at Rand's decisions. She listens to Rand's announcement and his conversation with Moiraine, questioning whether he is mad, and announces her intention to leave for the Waste with Aviendha.
Chapter 22 - Out of the Stone

Egwene chevauche à côté de Rand, questionnant ses décisions concernant Elayne et l'utilisation des Pierres de Portail. Elle exprime son inquiétude quant à la sécurité du voyage et remet en question la certitude de Rand que l'angreal est assez puissant, tout en engageant une conversation avec Mat.
Chapter 23 - Beyond the Stone
Egwene / Egwene al'Vere — aliases: Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah (Aes Sedai de l'Ajah Vert)
Egwene titube sous les effets du désorientation causée par le saut à travers la Pierre de Portail, puis boit de l'eau partagée par Lan et Moiraine. Elle observe les interactions entre les Sages, Rand et Mat, et finit par accepter l'offre d'Amys de commencer à apprendre le voyage onirique, acceptant d'oublier son statut d'Aes Sedai en tant qu'élève.
Chapter 28 - To the Tower of Ghenjei
Egwene
Egwene apparaît dans une vision du rêve du loup, fixant avec surprise une femme aux longs cheveux blancs alors que la Tour Blanche s'effondre derrière eux.
Chapter 34 - He Who Comes with the Dawn
Egwene
Egwene scrambles down the mountain with the other Wise Ones, consternated to see Rand and Mat. She observes the markings on Rand's arms and offers a perspective on the limitations of healing to counter his frustration. She attempts to comfort Rand regarding his parents and tries to feed him.
Chapter 35 - Sharp Lessons
Egwene — aliases: pupil, Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah (Aes Sedai de l'Ajah Vert)
Egwene meets Elayne in Tel'aran'rhiod, learning that Elayne is being taught by Jorin to work the weather and hearing about Elayne's insecurities, before being violently pulled from the dream by Amys. She endures a magical punishment and is forced to agree to strict behavioral rules, including dressing as a child, before joining the Wise Ones and Moiraine to discuss surveillance of Rand.
Chapter 36 - Misdirections
Egwene
Egwene rides with the Wise Ones and Moiraine, wearing her hair in braids with red ribbons. She dismounts to speak with the Wise Ones and later gestures toward Rand, wanting to check on him, though she remains with the women's party.
Chapter 48 - An Offer Refused
Egwene
Egwene walks with the Wise Ones and later approaches Rand with Moiraine and the other Wise Ones to check on his condition. She has stopped wearing her hair in braids, signaling a change accepted by the Wise Ones, and appears to have gained Aes Sedai authority.
Chapter 49 - Cold Rocks Hold
Egwene
Egwene arrives at Cold Rocks Hold with Moiraine and the other Wise Ones. She is greeted warmly by Roofmistress Lian and sits during the meal on white tiles, watching Rand's interaction with Aviendha with a worried look.
Chapter 52 - Need
Egwene
Egwene appears in Tel'aran'rhiod alongside Amys and Bair, warning Nynaeve that entering another's dream is dangerous because the dreamer controls the dream. She agrees to meet with Nynaeve in seven days to discuss Rand's acceptance as the Car'a'carn.
Chapter 57 - A Breaking in the Three-fold Land
Egwene
Egwene rides with Moiraine and the Wise Ones to the hilltop, speaks briefly with Rand about his isolation, and watches the events unfold from above before Rand departs.
Chapter 58 - The Traps of Rhuidean
Egwene
Egwene stands on the ledge at Alcair Dal, looking pained as she half-stretches out a hand toward Rand. She exclaims how Rand knew about Isendre's punishment and watches him prepare to ride away.
