Adelin, the tall leader of the Maidens of the Spear, reports that Joinde is marrying Garan and informs Rand that her sister will wait with patience for him to depart.

Adelin squats with a dozen Maidens, watching Rand and approving of Aviendha's handling of the bloodsnake.

Chapter 22 - Birdcalls by Night

Adelin apparaît devant Rand après la bataille, reconnaissant l'échec des Maidens à le protéger correctement. Elle présente sa lance horizontalement en signe de soumission, s'offrant ainsi que sa sœur à sa volonté, avant que Rand ne la congédie pour reprendre sa garde. Il s'éloigne d'un pas lourd, le sol rocailleux dur sous ses pieds, et finit par revenir dans sa propre tente. Aviendha est enveloppée dans ses couvertures, une jambe fine et nue dépassant. Il essaie de ne pas regarder, ni la jambe, ni elle. Elle avait laissé une lampe allumée. Il grimpe dans ses propres couvertures avec gratitude et éteint la lampe en canalisant, avant de relâcher saidin.
