Elayne steps through the gateway and observes her companions before sorting through a pannier of ter'angreal found in the palace storerooms. She identifies an amber turtle brooch as a powerful angreal and keeps it, despite warnings from Vandene Namelle about the dangers of untested artifacts. Elayne intervenes to calm Aviendha after Aviendha's confrontation with the Aes Sedai and shares a private moment revealing Aviendha's shame regarding her feelings for Rand.

Elayne observes the panic at the farm and resolves to question Ispan Shefar herself, insisting that Adeleas and Vandene leave them alone. She and Aviendha search the ter'angreal, discovering two angreal—a bracelet with a key and a seated ivory figure—and sets them aside carefully.
Chapter 5 - The Breaking Storm

Elayne navigates the complex political dynamics between the Aes Sedai and the Sea Folk, supporting Aviendha and counseling Nynaeve. She facilitates the linking process for the circle and feels the intense surge of Power, including the presence of saidin. Upon sensing the Seanchan raken and the distant channeling, she takes decisive command, ordering the group to flee the farm to avoid capture.
Chapter 6 - Threads

Elayne leads the group away from the farm, falls and injures herself, then stays behind to unweave the gateway despite exhaustion. She fights Seanchan soldiers alongside Aviendha and Birgitte before being struck by a shield, falling down a hill, and surviving with severe injuries while expressing pride in her survival and new skills.
Chapter 20 - Into Andor

Elayne travels through Andor, assessing public support for her claim to the throne and dealing with the discomfort of her companions' complaints. She oversees the distribution of warm clothing purchased with Aviendha's gems and attempts to study ter'angreal, finding that a crimson rod felt hot in a peculiar way. She enters Tel'aran'rhiod to communicate with Egwene, receiving orders to stay in Caemlyn.
Chapter 28 - Crimsonthorn

Elayne rides into Caemlyn, claims the Lion Throne by right of descent, and visits the Grand Hall alone. She confronts Dyelin Taravin, who states she stands with Elayne, and Elayne declares her intent to bond and marry Rand al'Thor.
