Riselle appears in the doorway wearing a feathered mask and a revealing costume. She takes Olver away to the festival, giving him a hawk mask and hugging him tightly.

Riselle, one of Queen Tylin's attendants, confronts Mat in his old rooms, arguing that he has been cruel to Olver by keeping him tied to her too closely. She reveals that Olver left on his own after promising to return by sunset.
