Chapter 8 - A Place of Safety

Description

In the immediate aftermath of the Trolloc attack, Rand watches as Moiraine Sedai attempts to heal his father Tam from a mysterious taint left by a Trolloc blade. After successfully healing him, though at great personal cost requiring the use of an angreal, Moiraine reveals the true purpose of the Trolloc raid: they were specifically targeting three young men of the same age - Rand, Mat, and Perrin. This revelation, coupled with Lan and Moiraine’s insistence that the Dark One himself has an interest in them, forces Rand to accept that he must leave the Two Rivers for Tar Valon, where he might find safety and answers among the Aes Sedai. Despite his reluctance to trust an Aes Sedai or leave his home and injured father, Rand ultimately agrees to depart that very night, recognizing that staying would only bring more danger to his village.
