He forces the Tairen lords to accept tax cuts and orders them to hire ships from Mayene, displaying a commanding presence that silences their resistance.
Chapter 9 - Decisions

Rand al'Thor burns a treaty presented by Meilan and Sunamon and threatens to hang them before they flee his chambers. He reflects on the prophecies of his heron markings and his role as the Dragon, only to be confronted by Lanfear, who attempts to persuade him to join the Dark One. Rand kills a Gray Man with Callandor and refuses Lanfear's offer, though he remains aware of her presence and warning.
