Gaul, the leader of the Stone Dogs, stands guard outside Rand's anteroom and briefly speaks with Egwene and Elayne, informing them that Rand is in a foul mood and has already chased off High Lord Torean.

Chapter 16 - Leavetakings

Gaul approaches Perrin in the corridor, informing him that Rand al'Thor knows of his departure and that many Aiel wish to return to the Three-fold Land. He offers to accompany Perrin to the Two Rivers to protect him from the Whitecloaks, a offer Perrin accepts.

Chapter 28 - To the Tower of Ghenjei

Gaul — aliases: Stone Dog

Gaul joins Perrin at the fireside, making a fire and sharing a silent meal before sitting on watch during the night. He listens to Perrin’s dream warnings about the Two Rivers and calmly accepts the grim reality of the situation.
