Chapter 5 - Among the Wise Ones

Egwene / Egwene al'Vere — aliases: Aes Sedai, the girl

Egwene washes with the help of a gai'shain named Cowinde and is summoned to the sweat tent, where she listens to the Wise Ones debate Rand al'Thor and Aviendha's fate. She is tasked with maintaining steam for the group and later learns of her punishment for tardiness, running fifty laps around the camp with Aviendha while discussing Rand's actions and Aiel customs.

Chapter 7 - A Departure

Egwene mounts her mare Mist and surveys the departing camp in Rhuidean, reflecting on her successful dreamwalking and her concerns regarding Aviendha and Isendre. She watches Rand al'Thor display his ability to channel by restoring the city's fountains, hearing his quiet mutter about time wasted, and observe his interactions with Mat and Moiraine before joining the march.

Chapter 23 - “The Fifth, I Give You”

Egwene observes the Aiel march from a hilltop, reflecting on the destruction of Selean and Rand's transformation into a commanding leader. She joins Rand and Aviendha, attempting to mediate Aviendha's distress over her duties, but is rebuked by Sorilea for trying to interfere with Aiel customs. She then learns of Aviendha's assigned suitor, Feran, and expresses doubt about Rand's ability to enforce his harsh laws without alienating his clansmen.
