Nicola Treehill, a novice with foretelling talents, approaches Egwene late at night with Areina Nermasiv. She attempts to blackmail the Amyrlin by claiming to have heard men discuss Nynaeve and Elayne's past as pretenders, demanding the chance to learn channeling without restriction in exchange for her silence. Egwene warns that they will be tossed out by the road with welts for company if they do not comply.

Chapter 12 - A Morning of Victory

Nicola attempts to blackmail Egwene earlier, is present at Lan's camp, and is dragged away by Siuan after being caught, then scurries back to camp after being warned.
