Daerid laughs at the idea of Mat becoming a Warder, rides with the Band to the massacre site, and later ties a tourniquet around Talmanes’ leg. He examines the dead Aiel and agrees with Mat’s assessment that they were likely Shaido or Darkfriends.

Chapter 33 - Courage to Strengthen

Daerid enters Mat's tent to warn of Rand's arrival, then is summoned by Mat to join Talmanes and Nalesean for the briefing on the mission to Salidar.

Chapter 38 - A Sudden Chill

Daerid rides with the commanders and accepts Mat's orders to hold his position. He is noted for his battle experience and is left with Olver to play a game if needed.
