Chapter 5 - HANNAH

Summary

At a Sigma house party featuring indie rock music, Hannah arrives with her roommate Allie, who initially refuses to leave her side despite her boyfriend Sean's invitations to dance. Hannah eventually persuades Allie to socialize and leaves her to join the festivities. While lingering near the wall in a green dress, Hannah is approached by Jimmy, a British Literature classmate, but remains distracted by her search for Justin Kohl. Garrett Graham arrives and immediately draws attention from female partygoers; after a brief exchange with Jimmy about his reputation, Hannah dances with Jimmy solely to evade Garrett's advances. Jimmy later reveals that Garrett's father is former New York Rangers hockey legend Phil Graham. Allie returns to inform Hannah that Justin has arrived at the party. Hannah spots him by the pool table but loses interest when he begins flirting with another woman. Garrett confronts her again regarding tutoring, dismissively claiming Justin only pursues women of a specific social status and re-offering his own date proposal.
