Chapter 2 - Whirlpools in the Pattern

Mat gambles with Tairen lords, using his luck to win while avoiding sensitive topics about the Aiel and high society. He suddenly experiences a supernatural vision where his playing cards transform into living enemies that attack him, forcing him to use his daggers to fend them off before they vanish.

Chapter 4 - Strings

Mat arriva nella stanza di Thom per cercare conforto dopo che le sue carte sono prese dal vivo, confessando la sua paura del Drago Rinato e il desiderio di lasciare Tear. He later finds Perrin packing to leave, discusses the threat, and after a moment of introspection, realizes he is already inclined to return home and tosses his gold coin to a servant.

Chapter 15 - Into the Doorway

Mat Cauthan si muove tra i corridoi polverosi del seminterrato della Pietra per trovare il ter'angreal a forma di telaio di porta contorto. Chapter 22 - Out of the Stone

Mat rides alongside the group, displaying nervous determination about using Portal Stones. He flips a gold Tar Valon mark to help Rand choose the correct symbol on the stone column, trusting his luck to guide them safely to Rhuidean.

Chapter 23 - Beyond the Stone

Mat arriva a Rhuidean tramite la Pietra del Portale, esprimendo sollievo per l'arrivo sicuro. Si inchina goffamente alle Sage One per chiedere il permesso di entrare a Rhuidean insieme a Rand, deposita una grande pila di coltelli nascosti ai loro piedi e si prepara ad entrare nel cuore della città con Rand.

Chapter 24 - Rhuidean

Mat enters Rhuidean and drinks heavily from a fountain that begins to flow. He waits by the Tree of Life until Rand departs into the ter'angreal rings. Finding the rings too dangerous and the wait too long, Mat discovers a twisted redstone ter'angreal doorway, enters it, and is led by a pale, fox-like man to a group of beings on pedestals who answer his prophecies with the word 'Done' before leaving him suffocating in the dark.

Chapter 26 - The Dedicated

Mat wakes up gasping after being hanged by the beings from the twisted doorway, clutching a silver foxhead medallion and a strange dark-shafted spear. He recovers enough to run with Rand, using the spear as a weapon against the dust entities, and complains of a splitting headache as they flee the dust entities within Rhuidean.

Chapter 28 - To the Tower of Ghenjei

Mat rides beside Rand, wearing a kerchief to shade his eyes and carrying his spear. He interacts with the peddlers, buying a hat from Keille Shaogi, and listens with confusion and unease as Rand speaks of snares and evil before urging Mat to watch himself.

Chapter 37 - Imre Stand

Mat watches the Aiel trade with the peddlers Kadere and Keille, noting their acceptance of gold and silver for various goods. He sits with the gleeman Jasin Natael, recounting his journey through Rhuidean while realizing his memories are filling with past-life battle tactics. He fights in the night attack using his black-hafted spear and later reflects on the reliability of his own recollections.

Chapter 48 - An Offer Refused

Mat rides Pips, keeping his hat low and carrying his black-hafted spear. He pursues Isendre, is rebuffed by her, and is then warned by Keille. He dices with the drivers and avoids discussing his memories of Rhuidean, claiming ignorance of the Old Tongue.

Chapter 49 - Cold Rocks Hold

Mat rides alongside Rand to Cold Rocks Hold, expressing disdain for the location compared to the Stone. He presents a Tairen silver necklace to Roofmistress Lian, who praises it despite its likely origin as loot. He eats the meal awkwardly on the floor, exchanges pipe tobacco with Rhuarc, and rolls his eyes at Aviendha's persistent lecturing on etiquette.

Chapter 50 - Traps

Mat fights in the defense of Cold Rocks Hold with his spear. He observes the peddlers and Isendre, then listens to the discussion between Rand and Rhuarc. He reluctantly agrees to accompany Rand to Alcair Dal despite his desire to sleep.

Chapter 57 - A Breaking in the Three-fold Land

Mat

Mat rides with Rand to Alcair Dal, observes the Shaido and the clan chiefs, and scrambles up to the ledge to stand by Rand during the confrontation, later watching Rand channel the storm.

Chapter 58 - The Traps of Rhuidean

Mat squats on the ledge with his hat brim pulled down and black-hafted spear propped on his shoulder. He jumps to his feet with a grin when Rand returns and jumps into his saddle.
