Ila, a plump woman taller than her husband, assists Perrin into the wagon and treats his barbed arrow wound with a salve, firmly dismissing the men from the sickroom. She reveals her hope that Perrin might find the Way of the Leaf, while Faile serves him a mug of bitter sleeping powder.
