Un homme mystérieux aux cheveux noirs et portant un manteau noir apparaît pour tirer Rand d'un trou effondré à Shadar Logoth. Il canalise saidin pour aider Rand à repousser Mashadar avec du feu de balefire, puis disparaît dans une ruelle, laissant Rand incapable de détecter sa porte.
