Valan Luca, a tall, vain traveling showman, stops his menagerie near the road to solicit Elayne as a patroness after trouble with a boar-horse in a previous town. He boasts of his exotic animals and performers, but Elayne and Nynaeve dismiss him with a meager payment and refuse his offer of entertainment.
