Lonnie, Binx's disabled half-brother, appears at the fishing camp and later at Mass and a drive-in movie. He engages Binx in theological debate regarding fasting and his late brother Duval, revealing his complex feelings of envy and his desire to win a radio through subscriptions.

Epilogue

Lonnie / Lonnie Smith

The sick half-brother lies dying in the hospital. He whispers to Binx that he has conquered an habitual disposition and compliments Kate's appearance during a visit that takes place the day before his death.
