Lan appears in secret with Myrelle and Nisao, practicing swordplay while bonded to Myrelle; Egwene commands him to ride to Ebou Dar to protect Nynaeve, and he accepts, riding off through a gateway.

Chapter 31 - Mashiara

Lan / Lan Mandragoran

Lan saves Nynaeve from the riverbed and explains that Myrelle holds his bond, stating he is effectively dead to her while bonded to Myrelle. He remains stoic and resigned as Nynaeve slaps him and declares their betrothal, responding with dry wit as she attempts to force him into submission.

Chapter 37 - A Note from the Palace

Lan arrives with Nynaeve, allowing her to cling to his arm. He is revealed to be married to Nynaeve by the Mistress of the Ships. He sits in the coach with the group, delivering the grim news that Moghedien killed two of Mat's men, and warns Mat to not include his wife in insults about women.

Chapter 38 - Six Stories

Lan stands guard by Nynaeve's side, fights the Black Ajah henchmen, and watches over the group as Nynaeve heals the injured.

Chapter 39 - Promises to Keep

Lan Mandragoran arrives with Nynaeve, wearing his Warder's cloak and saddlebags. He stands grimly by Nynaeve, declaring her his life, and accepts the charge to keep her and Elayne safe while Mat searches for Olver.
