Chapter 3 - News from the Plain

Moiraine calmly surveys the damage from Rand’s earthquake and Heals Leya’s scalp wound, displaying detached composure toward death. She dismisses Rand's excuse of an accident with a flat remark before retreating to her hut. Informing the group that five thousand Whitecloaks are on the Almoth Plain and that tall, light-eyed men are being killed by unseen threats, she asserts that her wards hide them from such dangers. Lan clarifies the nature of the threat, noting the Dark One has killers who are hard to notice, and Moiraine orders increased vigilance.

Chapter 5 - Nightmares Walking

Moiraine fights Trollocs with a switch and saidin during the attack, then heals the surviving Shienarans and Perrin's wounds using an angreal, exhausting herself in the process.

Chapter 6 - The Hunt Begins

Moiraine manages the crisis of Rand’s departure, revealing to the group that the seals of Shayol Ghul are weakening and the Forsaken may be loose. She explains the mechanics of telepathic dreams, identifies Callandor as the goal in Tear, and issues orders to dispatch Uno and Min while she, Lan, Perrin, and Loial follow Rand.

Chapter 7 - The Way Out of the Mountains

Moiraine rides with the Dragon banner wrapped around her saddle, scolds Lan’s pace, and catches large trout using her power. She subtly influences Perrin and Loial into doing her chores and engages in banter with Lan about the Green Ajah sister Myrelle.

Moiraine guides her party into Jarra and uses the Pattern to confirm Rand's presence in the village. She attempts to heal Noam but declares the man lost, refusing Simion's request, and later ignores the locked cage as she leaves the shed with Perrin.

Chapter 9 - Wolf Dreams

Moiraine explains to Perrin the nature of the wolf dream world and the danger ta'veren face, revealing fragments from an Age of Legends book. She refuses to shield his dreams, asserting that the threat is internal and that she will not take on the role of a Warder or endanger her current mission.

Rides ahead with her hood drawn to hide her face, accepts the title Furlan gives her, and questions him about the strange occurrences in the town before demanding their rooms.

Chapter 34 - A Different Dance

Moiraine reacts with concern to news of a false Dragon in Ghealdan, then dismisses Perrin's attempts to discuss the situation when he visits her room, revealing she is weighing options regarding Rand's path to Tear.

Chapter 35 - The Falcon

Moiraine follows Lan up the stairs, meets Perrin and Loial in the stable, and is led below deck by Lan once the Snow Goose is ready to sail.

Chapter 36 - Daughter of the Night

Moiraine sits cross-legged on her cabin bed reading her notes when Perrin arrives to report his dream. She listens to his account without expression, warns him that women might attempt to gentle him based on his abilities, and refuses to heal the burn mark left by the dream, telling him to be careful before dismissing him.

Chapter 41 - A Hunter’s Oath

Moiraine sits atop Aldieb, issuing a stern ultimatum to Zarine that she must swear a Hunter’s oath of obedience and silence to continue with them. She threatens to sever a thread from the Pattern if Zarine causes harm, then delegates Zarine’s care to Perrin.

Chapter 42 - Easing the Badger

Moiraine detects the Shadow's presence in Illian and feels genuine fear for the first time. After the Gray Men are killed, she orders Lan to take Perrin and flee to warn the Amyrlin, declaring she must go alone to face the threat, before vanishing into the night.

Chapter 43 - Shadowbrothers

Moiraine appears in Perrin's doorway, pale and grim, confirming that his wolf dreams are accurate and declaring that one of the Forsaken is ruling in Illian.

Chapter 44 - Hunted

Moiraine — aliases: Aes Sedai

Moiraine commands the group to flee Illian immediately due to the threat of Sammael. She leads them to a mound with a stone carving to await the Darkhounds. She uses a forbidden power, described as something not used in two thousand years, to vanquish the pack of Darkhounds, leaving the area in darkness.

Chapter 50 - The Hammer

Moiraine guides the group to the Star inn in Tear, hiding her identity with a hood and ring on a cord. She later convenes a meeting to reveal that High Lord Samon is the Forsaken Be'lal, whose alias the Netweaver suggests he is a schemer, and that he plans to steal Callandor from Rand. She asserts that the group must stay and fight, and she and Lan plan to enter the Stone of Tear to confront him. Lan then informs Moiraine that there are Aiel in Tear and departs to find a way into the Stone.

Chapter 53 - A Flow of the Spirit

Moiraine arrives at the inn with Lan to report that Rand is in Tear and that she will deal with Be’lal that night. She detects the Spirit flow of the trap killing Zarine, interrogates the innkeeper Jurah Haret about the trap's origin, and explains to Perrin that Zarine has been sent into Tel’aran’rhiod.

Chapter 55 - What Is Written in Prophecy

Moiraine strides through the battle to confront Be'lal, killing him with a bar of white fire before being hurled against a column by black lightning. She lies crumpled at the base of the column after Rand kills Ba'alzamon, appearing unconscious.

Chapter 56 - People of the Dragon

Moiraine — aliases: Aes Sedai

Moiraine sits on a throne-like chair and reveals an intact seal of the Dark One's prison, explaining its significance and the danger of the remaining seals. She firmly corrects Mat's belief that the Dark One is dead and considers Egwene's suspicion that Ba'alzamon might be Ishamael. She ultimately addresses Mat directly, telling him that his role as a ta'veren is far from finished and that nothing is done for him yet.
