Chapter 48 - The Blight
Description
The companions’ journey takes them into the fringes of the Blight, where they witness the corrupted landscape of diseased vegetation and encounter dangerous creatures lurking in poisonous lakes near the ruins of seven towers. As night falls, they make camp on a hilltop protected by Moiraine’s warding spells that bend light around them to avoid detection. The oppressive heat and humidity make rest difficult, yet most of the party manages to find sleep except for Lan and Nynaeve, who share an intimate conversation where she essentially proposes marriage, only to have him gently refuse her, explaining that he cannot offer her the certainty of anything except eventual widowhood due to his endless war against the Shadow.Characters
