One of two grave-diggers who retrieve Faria's body. He carries one end of the bier, makes a knot around the sack, and throws the body into the sea, noting the danger of the rough weather.

The second grave-digger who retrieves Faria's body. He carries the other end of the bier, initially steps away to find a spade, and then rejoins his partner to secure and toss the sack into the water.
