Dr. Mead, a tall, broad-shouldered man with kind gray eyes and a cheerful smile, arrives to treat Pollyanna. He listens to Pollyanna's comparison of him to Dr. Chilton and later stands with Dr. Warren to diagnose the severity of Pollyanna's spinal injury, catching Miss Polly when she faints.
